SUMMARY:Meet Your Maker with Robin Nance of Auchentoshan
DESCRIPTION:The Library is proud to announce the latest edition of our Meet Your Maker series on Wednesday\, January 27th with Robin Nance\, National Brand Ambassador for Auchentoshan Scotch whisky! \nRobin’s passion for beverage alcohol began at the age of 6 years old\, when she could be found behind her local bar serving sodas to patrons. Based out of Chicago\, she has since worked her way through all facets of the industry. But to say Robin is a talented individual would be an understatement. Not only does she have more than 20 years of experience in the industry\, but she dabbles in photography\, and has acted in numerous movies and TV series\, including Seinfeld! Robin now spends her time travelling for Beam Suntory\, educating folks all over on the amazing line of Auchentoshan whiskies\, and we are very excited to hear what she has to say! \nRobin will walk us through the core Auchentoshan line\, offering her own expertise and intricate knowledge of what makes this Scottish whisky stand apart. Light bites will also be provided by our kitchen to complement the showcased whiskies. Following the lively round table discussion\, we welcome you to stay at the Library and spend time at our fireplace for an additional dram or two. \nWednesday\, January 27th \n$45/members \n$55/public \n6pm and 7:30pm seatings* \n*Each seating accommodates 7 guests \nFor questions\, contact our Event Manager Jessye at events@mwlpdx.com.

SUMMARY:Benefit for Jason Carlisle at Shift Drinks
DESCRIPTION:Join us on Monday\, January 25th as we team up with our good friends at Shift Drinks to help out one of the Multnomah Whiskey Library’s nearest and dearest. \nJason Carlisle has not only been an integral part of the Library since opening\, but has made a lasting impression on each and every employee\, member\, and guest with whom he meets. Whether he’s banging around on his drumset\, or stirring one of the best Old Fashioned you’ll ever have the oppportunity of tasting\, his knowledge\, passion\, and attitude are unmatched\, and provide daily inspiration to us all. Unfortunately\, fate has taken a doleful turn for Jason. \nIn 2011\, Jason was diagnosed with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia\, and has since been locked in an ongoing battle with the disease. For the last 3 months\, he has been in the hospital in Seattle\, undergoing experimental CAR-T cell therapy\, which has disappointingly proved ineffective. Now his only remaining treatment option is a (very costly) bone marrow transplant. \nTo show our support and help offset these massive costs\, we are pairing up with Shift Drinks to throw a benefit for Jason at 7pm on Monday\, January 25th at Shift Drinks. The event will feature delicious cocktails and food\, served up by a spectacular list of guest bartenders: \nAlise Moffatt and Beau Burtnick {Shift Drinks}\nLucas Plant and Daniel Osborne {Bull In China}\nJordan Felix and Adam Wyatt-Jones {Multnomah Whiskey Library}\nTyler Stevens and Tony Contreras {Teardrop Lounge} \nAll proceeds and tips will be donated to helping Jason and his loved ones through this difficult time\, and to further Jason’s continuing fight for a cure. To donate now\, or find out more information about Jason’s battle\, visit https://www.youcaring.com/jason-carlisle-483358 \, where you can join up with those who have been helping raise money for Jason’s cause. \nPlease join us at Shift Drinks and give generously to one of our finest friends. Raise a glass to Jason and enjoy good company while helping him get back to his family here at the Library and across Portland. \n  \n#RAISEAGLASSTOJASON \n  \n

SUMMARY:Aquavit Week
DESCRIPTION:The fourth annual Aquavit Week\, the week-long celebration of the signature spirit of the Nordics\, returns for 2015 with events running from December 6-12. Aquavit is an underrated spirit behind the bar\, and there may be more aquavit in the Pacific Northwest than in any other part of the United States. When Aquavit Week began in 2012\, the number of aquavits regularly available in America could almost be counted on one hand. Today there are more than thirty available here\, from small batches produced by American craft distillers to quality imports from its home in Scandinavia. \nThe Library will be featuring a special cocktail menu and food pairing all week\, don’t miss out!
