SUMMARY:Day of Service with Friends of Trees
DESCRIPTION:Friends of Trees (FOT) is a local non-profit taking action against climate change through natural restoration and planting. They have planted more the 870\,000 trees and native shrubs across six counties and two states\, engaging community members for over 30 years. “Whether it’s growing the urban canopy through planting street and yard trees\, or restoring sensitive natural areas through planting native trees and shrubs\, there is no doubt that the trees planted by Friends of Trees play a vital role our region’s livability.” \n  \nIn support of their cause\, the Library and Noble Oak are thrilled to invite our members to join us at the Columbia Slough Natural Area Stewardship in Northeast Portland. To help maintain the natural environment\, we will be mulching hundreds of native trees and shrubs planted earlier this Winter\, followed by weeding invasive species. \n  \nTo celebrate a hard day’s work\, we invite all our volunteers to join us back at The Green Room for a cocktail hour provided by Noble Oak to enjoy one complimentary cocktail and light hors d’oeuvres. You can follow along with Noble Oak’s mission to plant a tree for every bottle sold by following the link here! \n  \nAdditional information will be provided to volunteers 1 week before hand.  \n  \nWe can’t wait to volunteer with you!

We’ll be pairing our higher end sherries with whiskies aged in that style of sherry barrel. \n  \nTickets include a flight featuring 4 Scotch whiskies\, 4 sherries\, a meat & cheese pairing\, and a chocolate whiskey cake to finish (preview the flight on our website). This event will take place in The Tasting Room inside the Library – all seating is communal. DESCRIPTION:TRIVIA NIGHT\n  \nThe Library is thrilled to welcome members and guests for our first ever trivia night\, hosted by award winning curators Untapped Trivia! Join us for an evening of general knowledge trivia\, covering topics such as pop culture\, history\, and maybe a thing or two about whiskey. Prizes will be awarded to the top scoring teams\, which include gift cards\, exclusive MWL merchandise\, and surprise event tickets! \n  \nTickets include a welcome cocktail\, one drink ticket\, and light hors d’oeuvres. A portion of ticket sales will also be donated to The Trevor Project\, a non-profit providing crisis support and counseling for LGBTQ youth\, in addition to research\, education\, and advocacy for the LGBTQ community.
