SUMMARY:Pathfinder and Roots Divino Tasting
DESCRIPTION:MWL MEMBER EXCLUSIVE TASTINGS:\nPATHFINDER and ROOTS DIVINO\nThe Pathfinder Hemp and Root is inspired by the apothecarial mysteries of Old West snake oil salesmen\, alternative medicine\, and the supernatural marvels that go hand-in-hand with them. The resulting liquid is equally wild and enigmatic\, leading our drinkers to new realms of flavor both tangible and surreal. With an eye to the future of drinks and a thirst for progress in booze-free spirits\, Hemp and Root hearkens to a bygone age while raising the standard of flavor and quality in non-alcoholic spirits. \nROOTS DIVINO are non-alcoholic aperitifs based on wine (di vino). The halo shape on the label symbolizes the “divine” effect of enjoying a drinking occasion without the alcohol.  Going back to the roots of ancient herbal remedies\, Roots Divino rediscover bitter orange\, gentian\, wormwood & thyme in a bittersweet “rosso” aperitif and a contemporary “bianco” aperitif from Greece. \nMembers and their guests are invited to join us for a casual complimentary tasting of Westward Whiskey with Westward Events Manager Jonathan Harris. \nMWL Member Walk-ins welcome and RSVP appreciated! \nMembers may bring up to three guests per tasting. \nAttendees must be accompanied by a member of Multnomah Whiskey Library.

SUMMARY:Mezcal Union Tasting
DESCRIPTION:MWL MEMBER EXCLUSIVE TASTINGS:\nMezcal union\nMezcal Union was born with the purpose of uniting.  From day one\, they’ve believed that unity is strength and the path to spark change.   To unite means to gather farmers\, producers\, mezcaleros\, and more people in Mexico and around the world.  This is why in 2008 they named their project “Union” with the purpose of sharing that message with every bottle.   They believe that as more people get to know mezcal\, they will generate more opportunities for the people that produce it. \nFrom the very beginning\, their purpose was to generate social development for Oaxacan local communities\, preserving the tradition of artisanal production of Mezcal.  Mezcal Union catalyzes collaboration amongst every person and community involved in the process of agave farming and mezcal production.  They aim to exalt the name of Mexico\, showing new ways to enjoy it\, exploring its cities\, streets and trying its food and drinks. \nMembers and their guests are invited to join us for a casual complimentary tasting of Herradura in the Member’s Lounge. \nFeatured Spirits: \nMezcal Union Uno \nMezcal Union El Viejo \nWalk-ins welcome and RSVP appreciated! \nMembers may bring up to three guests per tasting. \nAttendees must be accompanied by a member of Multnomah Whiskey Library.

SUMMARY:Maker's Mark Tasting
DESCRIPTION:MWL MEMBER EXCLUSIVE TASTINGS:\nMaker’s Mark\nMaker’s Mark® began with one family’s quest to create a bourbon they enjoyed drinking and sharing with friends. As the world’s first premium bourbon\, it changed the industry in 1953. \nBill Samuels\, Sr.\, simply wanted a whisky he would enjoy drinking. Never bitter or sharp\, Maker’s Mark® is made with soft red winter wheat instead of the usual rye\, for a one-of-a-kind\, full-flavored bourbon that’s smooth and balanced.  Bill found his ideal mash bill in the kitchen\, cleverly testing mash bills through bread in order to quickly test recipes without distilling and aging. It’s the red winter wheat that imparts the front-of-palate sweetness that Maker’s® is known for. \nThe limestone shelf where the distillery is located is key to crafting the unique taste of Maker’s Mark® – the only distillery with its own water source and watershed. Kentucky limestone filters out iron from water\, which is unpleasant in bourbon. The pure calcium- and magnesium-rich water surrounding the distillery makes better drinking water and a better sour mash in which yeast can flourish. \nMembers and their guests are invited to join us for a casual complimentary tasting of Maker’s Mark in the Member’s Lounge with Maker’s Marketing Diplomat Annemarie Roberts. \nFeatured Spirits: \nMaker’s Mark 46 \nMaker’s Mark Cask Strength   \nMaker’s Mark ‘The Heart’ \nSpecial Sneak Peak: Maker’s Mark Cellar Aged 2024   \nWalk-ins welcome and RSVP appreciated! \nMembers may bring up to three guests per tasting. \nAttendees must be accompanied by a member of Multnomah Whiskey Library.

SUMMARY:Cognac Park Tasting
DESCRIPTION:MWL MEMBER EXCLUSIVE TASTINGS:\nCognac Park\nA family business created in 1880 by Gaston Tessendier\, the Distillery is today composed of an estate of more than 25 hectares of the heart of one of the most exclusive growing areas of Cognac: The Borderies. \nEverything begins in the vineyards of the Tessendier Estate and with selected wine producers.  Plucked from the vines during the October harvest\,  the white grapes of the Ugni Blanc variety are combined with\, those coming for the best growing areas\, Petite Champagne\, Grande Champagne\, Fins bois and The Borderies. These grapes yield a wine that is both fruity and fresh and which will then be\, in the family distillery found in Jarnac\, twice distilled in large copper pot stills\, to obtain an eau-de-vie of the highest possible quality.  Blended by the Master blender then aged in their cellars located on the banks of the River Charente\, where thousands of casks are meticulously positioned in an atmosphere which is both obscure and humid in French oak. \nMembers and their guests are invited to join us for a casual complimentary tasting of Cognac Park in the Member’s Lounge. \nFeatured Spirits: \nCognac Park VS Carte Blanche \nCognac Park VSOP   \nCognac Park Mizunara \nCognac Park Borderies   \nCognac Park Multnomah Whisk{e}y Library Single Barrel Selection \nWalk-ins welcome and RSVP appreciated! \nMembers may bring up to three guests per tasting. \nAttendees must be accompanied by a member of Multnomah Whiskey Library.

SUMMARY:Chicken Cock Whiskey Tasting
DESCRIPTION:MWL MEMBER EXCLUSIVE TASTINGS:\nCHICKEN COCK WHISKEY TASTING\nIn 1856\, James A. Miller built a distillery and started making Chicken Cock Whiskey in Paris\, Kentucky. After his death\, Miller left the business to a trusted distillery clerk\, George G. White\, who made Chicken Cock into the legend it became.  Chicken Cock survived hardships\, fire and prohibition before fading into obscurity in the 1950s.  In 2011\, Chicken Cock’s fortunes changed when spirits entrepreneur Matti Anttila discovered the brand in the Oscar Getz Museum while researching the early days of distillation in the U.S. With Chicken Cock simply being a faded memory of the past at that time\, Anttila decided that the Famous Old Brand was worthy of a rebirth. Until the brand could produce its own distillate\, Anttila sourced some of the best aged bourbon he could find that was worthy of the Chicken Cock label. Through vast historical research and the acquiring of the brand’s relics throughout its history\, this was the beginning of the revival of the award-winning brand’s new lease on life. \nToday\, Chicken Cock holds the same standards that founder James A. Miller set back in 1856\, producing delicious Kentucky Whiskey \nMembers and their guests are invited to join us for a casual complimentary tasting in the Member’s Lounge. \n\nTastes of the following will be provided \nChicken Cock Bourbon \nChicken Cock Rye \n Chicken Cock Double Oak \nChicken Cock Island Rooster \nChicken Cock Mizunara \n\n\nWalk-ins welcome and RSVP appreciated! \nMembers may bring up to three guests per tasting. \nAttendees must be accompanied by a member of Multnomah Whiskey Library.

SUMMARY:Straightaway Cocktail Class
DESCRIPTION:We are thrilled to announce the next installment of our Cocktail Class series\, introducing a special collaboration with Straightaway Cocktails! \nNext month MWL will be releasing a bottled cocktail with Portland Based company Straightaway Cocktails. You may have seen their canned cocktails at your local grocery store\, or their signature Oregon Old Fashioned on your most recent Alaskan Airlines flight. Known for making their own liqueurs\, amari\, vermouths\, Straightaway was founded so more people could enjoy a world class cocktail with the same ease as opening a bottle of wine or a can of beer.  \nTo celebrate this special release\, we invite guests to join us at the Library for a cocktail class lead by Straightaway Co-Founder Casey Richwine\, MWL Bar Program Manager Cody Mulcahy\, and MWL Spirit Curator & Education Manager Brett Adams. \nThis special cocktail release is inspired by the New Orleans classic cocktail the Vieux Carré (and is coming to a store near you). Guests will taste through each component of the Vieux Carré\, followed by a step by step instruction to mix your very own. To close the evening\, guests will be the first to try our limited release cocktail. \nIn addition\, guests will also have the opportunity to purchase the bottled cocktail on site during the event! This event won’t be one to miss\, we hope to see you there!
