SUMMARY:Batanga Tequila and Timberline Vodka Tasting
DESCRIPTION:ABOUT BATANGA \nBatanga\, born in the heart of Tequila\, is made using 100% blue Weber agave with traditional\, old-world methods\, that have been used for generations. Our jimadors hand-harvest the agave piñas from the agave fields\, which are then cooked in traditional style masonry brick ovens\, imparting nuances of cinnamon\, clove and other warming spices from the delicate process of caramelizing sugars. The ‘mosto’ released is then fermented and double distilled\, giving Batanga the crisp\, bright finish that has won the hearts of people near and far. \nABOUT TIMBERLINE \nThere’s the upper class\, the creative class\, the middle class\, to name a few\, but there is one class that unites anyone who feels the draw from the energy of the outdoors. It’s called the “Outer Class” and Timberline is the vodka created to serve it. It requires no special skill or endorsements aside from a love of the outdoors. It’s for those who love to put a clear\, perfectly distilled exclamation point on their days doing whatever they do in the rarefied air of the outdoors. \n  \n\nComplimentary tastes  and sample Espresso Martinis* will be provided alongside small bites from the Multnomah Whisk{e}y Library kitchen \n\nWalk-ins welcome and RSVP appreciated! \n*Limited quantities available  on a first-come\, first served basis \nAttendees must be accompanied by a member of Multnomah Whiskey Library.

SUMMARY:Johnnie Walker Tasting
DESCRIPTION:MWL MEMBER EXCLUSIVE TASTINGS:\nJOHNNIE WALKER\nIt all started in 1820 when a determined young man named John opened his grocery shop in Kilmarnock – a thriving town in Scotland – after the death of his father. Despite a difficult start\, John had a spark in him that would ignite his success.    Within the year\, the family farm had been sold and the money used to set John Walker up with his own grocer’s shop in the thriving local town of Kilmarnock. It was a smart move. In those days\, most grocers stocked a line of single malts\, but they were never consistent. This wasn’t good enough for John. So\, he started blending them together to create a whisky that tasted just as good every time. \nToday\, Johnnie Walker is the biggest Scotch Whisky brand in the world.  Its slogan is adopted and embraced everywhere\, as a rallying cry for progress\, encouragement in adversity and an expression in optimism.  It continues to make whiskies which push the boundaries \nMembers and their guests are invited to join us for a casual complimentary tasting of Johnnie Walker accompanied by small bites from the Multnomah Whiskey Library kitchen will be provided. \nMWL Member Walk-ins welcome and RSVP appreciated! \nMembers may bring up to three guests per tasting. \nAttendees must be accompanied by a member of Multnomah Whiskey Library.

SUMMARY:Amaterra Winery Tasting
DESCRIPTION:MWL MEMBER EXCLUSIVE TASTINGS:\nAMATERRA WINERY\n\nAmaterra uses a unique process that utilizes bridge cranes to allow one elevation drop to act as a multiple-level gravity-flow winemaking facility.  The equipment and approach enable the gentlest handling of fruit and the resulting in-process wine. This maintains the delicate aromatics and desired structure sought after in Pinot Noir winemaking.   The patent-pending design also enables their winemaking team to see all areas of the process with no blind spots\, and is highly efficient in terms of material handling efficiency. \nConveyors\, augers\, and aerative pumps are all harsh to fruit\, juice\, and wine.  They’ve eliminated these in order to maximize wine quality. This coupled with vinification and barrel-aging in small lots allows them to layer in complexity and showcase a terroir-driven winemaking program. \nMembers and their guests are invited to join us for a casual complimentary tasting of Amaterra Wines accompanied by small bites from the Multnomah Whiskey Library kitchen will be provided. \nMWL Member Walk-ins welcome and RSVP appreciated! \nMembers may bring up to three guests per tasting. \nAttendees must be accompanied by a member of Multnomah Whiskey Library.

SUMMARY:Glenmorangie Tasting
DESCRIPTION:MWL MEMBER EXCLUSIVE TASTINGS:\nGLENMORANGIE\nThe story begins in 1843 with farmer William Matheson who\, with his wife\, Anne\, set about building a distillery in the Scottish Highlands. Selling their whisky for mere shillings per gallon\, the venture may have started small\, its location remote\, but the Mathesons’ vision was extraordinary. \nThey were laying the foundations of what would become one of the most famous Scotch whisky distilleries in the world. \nMatheson’s Whisky was named after the peaceful land he loved.  In Gaelic\, the ancient language of Scotland\, ‘Glenmorangie’ means ‘Valley of Tranquility’.  By virtue of the way it is made\, all whisky is inherently linked to the land\, but Glenmorangie is perhaps rooted more deeply than any other\, being tightly woven into the long\, rich history of their native Ross-shire. \nMembers and their guests are invited to join us for a casual complimentary tasting of Glenmorangie accompanied by small bites from the Multnomah Whiskey Library kitchen will be provided. \nMWL Member Walk-ins welcome and RSVP appreciated! \nMembers may bring up to three guests per tasting. \nAttendees must be accompanied by a member of Multnomah Whiskey Library.

SUMMARY:Pathfinder Tasting
DESCRIPTION:MWL MEMBER EXCLUSIVE TASTINGS:\nTHE PATHFINDER\nThe Pathfinder Hemp and Root is inspired by the apothecarial mysteries of Old West snake oil salesmen\, alternative medicine\, and the supernatural marvels that go hand-in-hand with them. The resulting liquid is equally wild and enigmatic\, leading our drinkers to new realms of flavor both tangible and surreal. With an eye to the future of drinks and a thirst for progress in booze-free spirits\, Hemp and Root hearkens to a bygone age while raising the standard of flavor and quality in non-alcoholic spirits. \nIt debuted at the bar Life on Mars in the counter-cultural epicenter of Seattle\, the Capitol Hill neighborhood\, in 2021. It soon became a local darling\, and certainly no small affair between the bartenders and shopkeepers in the area\, due to its unrivaled flavor and wondrous versatility in cocktails. Within no time\, this miraculous elixir could be found at leading bars like Zig Zag\, Rob Roy\, Trick Dog\, Death & Company\, and Amor Y Amargo\, and retail sales were fast outpacing production\, which led the New York Post to declare ‘The Pathfinder has become the Pappy Van Winkle of the non-alcoholic drinks world\,’ because of its scarcity and cult following. \nIf good fortune guides you to this extraordinary treasure in the wild\, we implore you to give it a taste and join us on our journey to cocktail enlightenment. May the trails you blaze be fervently delicious. \nMembers and their guests are invited to join us for a casual complimentary tasting of The Pathfinder . \n  \n\nComplimentary Tastes of Pathfinder will be provided alongside small bites from the Multnomah Whisk{e}y Library kitchen \n\nWalk-ins welcome and RSVP appreciated! \nAttendees must be accompanied by a member of Multnomah Whiskey Library.

DESCRIPTION:JANUARY 23RD\, 2026\n9:00AM – 11:00AM\nRACHEL SMOLKIN\nLAURA ANDERSON\n$35 \nWe’re excited to welcome back BAGELS NOT BOURBON – where Portland comes to think out loud. Hosted by The Idea Factory in the Library\, this Friday morning series brings together creative thinkers\, civic leaders\, and cultural changemakers for honest conversations over coffee and bagels. No slides\, no scripts—just bold ideas and the people building what’s next for Portland. First in the 2026 line up: \nRachel Smolkin\, CEO Oregon Public Broadcasting (OPB)\, and  \nLaura Anderson\, Local Ocean Seafoods \nListening\, Storytelling & Oregon’s Shared Identity \nFrom the Coast to the High Desert: How Conversations Travel Across Oregon \n  \nJoin Kimiko Matsuda in conversation with Rachel Smolkin and Laura Anderson as we explore what it means to listen deeply to a state as diverse as Oregon—and how storytelling and food can serve as connective tissue across geography\, culture\, and history. \nLaura played a pivotal role in helping Rachel design her first listening session in rural Oregon—an experience that launched Rachel’s ongoing effort to meet with community leaders across the state. Together\, they’ll reflect on how those early conversations shaped a broader journey of listening\, learning\, and relationship-building beyond Portland’s urban core. \n  \nDrawing from Rachel’s statewide travels and Laura’s deep roots in the Newport community\, this conversation will highlight the powerful connection points that consistently emerge—innovation\, food\, arts and culture\, and shared histories that shape how Oregonians see themselves and one another. We’ll consider how public media and local food systems can act as both mirror and bridge\, elevating rural voices and strengthening a sense of belonging across Oregon. \n  \nExpect reflections on leadership through listening\, the responsibility of amplifying regional perspectives\, and why Oregon’s future depends on seeing—and hearing—the whole state in the story. \nWe hope you will join us. \n  \nTickets include admission to the event as well as a spread of fresh fruit\, bagels & accompaniments\, coffee\, tea and juice. \n

SUMMARY:Woodinville Whiskey
DESCRIPTION:MWL MEMBER EXCLUSIVE TASTINGS:\nWOODINVILLE WHISKEY\nThe story of Woodinville doesn’t begin with a 100-year-old recipe or generations of family distillers. It starts with two best friends\, Orlin Sorensen and Brett Carlile\, and their shared dream of proving that the best whiskey doesn’t have to be made in Kentucky. Or Scotland. It can be made right here in Washington State. \nOrlin and Brett had a strong belief from the beginning: to make the best liquids\, you can’t cut corners and must do things the right way\, even if they’re inefficient. The highest quality locally grown grains\, the best barrels and coopers in the world\, the most technologically advanced distilling equipment\, and the mentorship of an industry icon: David Pickerell\, former Master Distiller for Maker’s Mark. \nMembers and their guests are invited to join us for a casual complimentary tasting of Woodinville Whiskey in the Member’s Lounge. \nWalk-ins welcome and RSVP appreciated! \nMembers may bring up to three guests per tasting. \nAttendees must be accompanied by a member of Multnomah Whiskey Library.

SUMMARY:Member Meetup - Spirits Enthusiasts/1972 Macallan 18yr
DESCRIPTION:Member Meetup – Spirits Enthusiasts/1972 Macallan 18yr\n  \nJoin us on January 28th from 4:15–6:15pm\, and travel back to 1972 for a casual and welcoming gathering where you can sample a half pour of \nMACALLAN 18 YEAR OLD – 1972 VINTAGE \nin an unguided tasting that captures a pivotal moment in Macallan history — offered at a nearly break-even cost of $55 for a half pour. Come taste the oldest vintage Macallan in our collection while enjoying the company of fellow members and spirits enthusiasts. \nIn 1972\, Apollo 17 marked the final time humans set foot on the moon — the culmination of an era defined by patience\, ambition\, and engineering done the hard way. \nDistilled in that same year\, this 1972 Macallan 18 year old is the oldest vintage Macallan in our collection\, capturing the distillery before its modern evolution. Like Apollo 17\, this bottle represents a high-water mark of a disappearing method — Macallan before it knew it would become Macallan — which is a moment worth revisiting. \nTHIS MEETUP IS OPEN TO MEMBERS ONLY\, and we politely decline non-member attendees. The featured spirit will be limited to one half pour per member attendee. \nHave questions or would like to join the waitlist for this meetup? Contact us at membership@mwlpdx.com. \n\n
