SUMMARY:Kilchoman Tasting
DESCRIPTION:MWL MEMBER EXCLUSIVE TASTINGS:\nKILCHOMAN SCOTTISH WHISKY\nMembers and their guests are invited to join us for a casual complimentary tasting of Kilchoman Scottish Whisky with Kevin Bolis. \nProud to complete every stage of the whisky-making process at Kilchoman\, from barley grown in the fields around the distillery to bottling on site. Kilchoman single malts are a distillation of people\, passion and place.  Their 100% Islay philosophy stems from Founders Anthony and Kathy’s desire to resurrect the grass roots tradition of farm distilling.  From the very beginning\, the 100% Islay range was their main reason for being.  It represents the revival of single malt whisky being cultivated from barley to bottle in a single location.  Theirs is a distillery where the responsibility for quality and consistency is not outsourced but completed on-site with skill\, care and attention to detail. \n\nTastes of the following will be available in the Member’s lounge \nKilchoman Machir Bay\nKilchoman Sanaig\nand more! \nWalk-ins welcome and RSVP appreciated! \nMembers may bring up to three guests per tasting. \nAttendees must be accompanied by a member of Multnomah Whiskey Library.

SUMMARY:Bagels Not Bourbon: Rachel Smolkin\, CEO – Oregon Public Broadcasting (OPB) with Laura Anderson\, Founder – Local Ocean Seafoods
DESCRIPTION:JANUARY 23RD\, 2026\n9:00AM – 11:00AM\nRACHEL SMOLKIN\nLAURA ANDERSON\n$35 \nWe’re excited to welcome back BAGELS NOT BOURBON – where Portland comes to think out loud. Hosted by The Idea Factory in the Library\, this Friday morning series brings together creative thinkers\, civic leaders\, and cultural changemakers for honest conversations over coffee and bagels. No slides\, no scripts—just bold ideas and the people building what’s next for Portland. First in the 2026 line up: \nRachel Smolkin\, CEO Oregon Public Broadcasting (OPB)\, and  \nLaura Anderson\, Local Ocean Seafoods \nListening\, Storytelling & Oregon’s Shared Identity \nFrom the Coast to the High Desert: How Conversations Travel Across Oregon \n  \nJoin Kimiko Matsuda in conversation with Rachel Smolkin and Laura Anderson as we explore what it means to listen deeply to a state as diverse as Oregon—and how storytelling and food can serve as connective tissue across geography\, culture\, and history. \nLaura played a pivotal role in helping Rachel design her first listening session in rural Oregon—an experience that launched Rachel’s ongoing effort to meet with community leaders across the state. Together\, they’ll reflect on how those early conversations shaped a broader journey of listening\, learning\, and relationship-building beyond Portland’s urban core. \n  \nDrawing from Rachel’s statewide travels and Laura’s deep roots in the Newport community\, this conversation will highlight the powerful connection points that consistently emerge—innovation\, food\, arts and culture\, and shared histories that shape how Oregonians see themselves and one another. We’ll consider how public media and local food systems can act as both mirror and bridge\, elevating rural voices and strengthening a sense of belonging across Oregon. \n  \nExpect reflections on leadership through listening\, the responsibility of amplifying regional perspectives\, and why Oregon’s future depends on seeing—and hearing—the whole state in the story. \nWe hope you will join us. \n  \nTickets include admission to the event as well as a spread of fresh fruit\, bagels & accompaniments\, coffee\, tea and juice. \n

SUMMARY:Woodinville Whiskey
DESCRIPTION:MWL MEMBER EXCLUSIVE TASTINGS:\nWOODINVILLE WHISKEY\nThe story of Woodinville doesn’t begin with a 100-year-old recipe or generations of family distillers. It starts with two best friends\, Orlin Sorensen and Brett Carlile\, and their shared dream of proving that the best whiskey doesn’t have to be made in Kentucky. Or Scotland. It can be made right here in Washington State. \nOrlin and Brett had a strong belief from the beginning: to make the best liquids\, you can’t cut corners and must do things the right way\, even if they’re inefficient. The highest quality locally grown grains\, the best barrels and coopers in the world\, the most technologically advanced distilling equipment\, and the mentorship of an industry icon: David Pickerell\, former Master Distiller for Maker’s Mark. \nMembers and their guests are invited to join us for a casual complimentary tasting of Woodinville Whiskey in the Member’s Lounge. \nWalk-ins welcome and RSVP appreciated! \nMembers may bring up to three guests per tasting. \nAttendees must be accompanied by a member of Multnomah Whiskey Library.

SUMMARY:Member Meetup - Spirits Enthusiasts/1972 Macallan 18yr
DESCRIPTION:Member Meetup – Spirits Enthusiasts/1972 Macallan 18yr\n  \nJoin us on January 28th from 4:15–6:15pm\, and travel back to 1972 for a casual and welcoming gathering where you can sample a half pour of \nMACALLAN 18 YEAR OLD – 1972 VINTAGE \nin an unguided tasting that captures a pivotal moment in Macallan history — offered at a nearly break-even cost of $55 for a half pour. Come taste the oldest vintage Macallan in our collection while enjoying the company of fellow members and spirits enthusiasts. \nIn 1972\, Apollo 17 marked the final time humans set foot on the moon — the culmination of an era defined by patience\, ambition\, and engineering done the hard way. \nDistilled in that same year\, this 1972 Macallan 18 year old is the oldest vintage Macallan in our collection\, capturing the distillery before its modern evolution. Like Apollo 17\, this bottle represents a high-water mark of a disappearing method — Macallan before it knew it would become Macallan — which is a moment worth revisiting. \nTHIS MEETUP IS OPEN TO MEMBERS ONLY\, and we politely decline non-member attendees. The featured spirit will be limited to one half pour per member attendee. \nHave questions or would like to join the waitlist for this meetup? Contact us at membership@mwlpdx.com. \n\n

As farmers and stewards of the land\, it’s only natural for us to protect the planet that nourishes us. From France to Barbados\, our community is built on shared values: conserving the land\, air\, and water that sustain our ingredients\, and supporting the people who craft them into exceptional spirits. \nMembers and their guests are invited to join us for a casual complimentary tasting of Maison Ferrand in the Member’s Lounge. \nWalk-ins welcome and RSVP appreciated! \nMembers may bring up to three guests per tasting. \nAttendees must be accompanied by a member of Multnomah Whiskey Library.

SUMMARY:Bagels Not Bourbon: Jelani Memory\, Founder – A Kids Co. & Chip Miller\, Associate Creative Director – Portland Center Stage
DESCRIPTION:FEBRUARY 27TH\, 2026\n9:00AM – 11:00AM\nJELANI MEMORY\nCHIP MILLER\n$35 \nWe’re excited to welcome back BAGELS NOT BOURBON – where Portland comes to think out loud. Hosted by The Idea Factory in the Library\, this Friday morning series brings together creative thinkers\, civic leaders\, and cultural changemakers for honest conversations over coffee and bagels. No slides\, no scripts—just bold ideas and the people building what’s next for Portland. Next up in the 2026 line up: \n  \nJelani Memory\, Founder – A Kids Co. \nChip Miller\, Associate Creative Director – Portland Center Stage \nIndependent Doesn’t Mean Small\nScaling Culture Without Losing Soul \n  \nJoin Kimiko Matsuda in conversation with Jelani Memory and Chip Miller as we explore how arts and culture organizations grow reach without sacrificing integrity. \nBetween A Kids Co. and Portland Center Stage\, Jelani and Chip represent two distinct—but deeply aligned—approaches to independent cultural work. One rooted in publishing and education\, the other in performance and design. Both values-driven. Both operating important creative businesses. And both navigating how to expand audience\, influence\, and impact while staying true to their core beliefs. \nTogether\, they’ll reflect on what “scale” really means in mission-driven creative work—what gets harder\, what becomes possible\, and how values are protected as momentum builds. The conversation will explore how trust is earned across generations\, how independent storytelling remains relevant in a crowded landscape\, and why integrity is not a constraint\, but a creative advantage.\nThis isn’t a panel or a presentation. It’s a guided\, candid conversation—one that invites us to rethink how arts and culture function not just as expression\, but as living systems shaping civic identity and belonging. \nExpect insights on creative leadership\, audience-building with intention\, and why independent doesn’t have to mean small to be powerful. \nWe hope you will join us. \nTickets include admission to the event as well as a spread of fresh fruit\, bagels & accompaniments\, coffee\, tea and juice. \n

SUMMARY:Kings County
DESCRIPTION:MWL MEMBER EXCLUSIVE TASTINGS:\nKINGS COUNTY\nKings County Distillery is New York City’s premier craft distillery and among the most acclaimed small distilleries in the United States. Focused exclusively on whiskeys\, Kings County has made a name for its Bourbon\, Peated Bourbon\, Empire Rye and other creative whiskeys. \nFirst located in a 325 square-foot room in East Williamsburg\, Kings County began as the smallest commercial distillery in the country\, with five 24-liter stainless steel stills making whiskey seven days a week\, 16 hours a day. In 2012\, the distillery moved into the Paymaster Building in the historic Brooklyn Navy Yard\, just steps from legendary site of the Brooklyn Whiskey Wars of the 1860s and the former distillery district of the waterfront. \nKings County blends distilling practices from a variety of cultures into creative whiskeys that remain traditional while defying convention\, using Scottish copper pot stills\, open fermentation\, and local grains to make American whiskeys that expand the category. One of the preeminent craft distilleries in the United States\, the American Distilling Institute named Kings County Distillery of the Year in 2016. \nMembers and their guests are invited to join us for a casual complimentary tasting of Rare Character in the Member’s Lounge. \nWalk-ins welcome and RSVP appreciated! \nMembers may bring up to three guests per tasting. \nAttendees must be accompanied by a member of Multnomah Whiskey Library.

SUMMARY:Bagels Not Bourbon: Jenny Nguyen\, Founder – The Sports Bra\, Molly King\, Executive Director – QDoc Film Festival
DESCRIPTION:MARCH 13TH\, 2026\n9:00AM – 11:00AM\nJENNY NGUYEN\nMOLLY KING\n$35 \nWe’re excited to welcome back BAGELS NOT BOURBON – where Portland comes to think out loud. Hosted by The Idea Factory in the Library\, this Friday morning series brings together creative thinkers\, civic leaders\, and cultural changemakers for honest conversations over coffee and bagels. No slides\, no scripts—just bold ideas and the people building what’s next for Portland. Next up in the 2026 line up: \n  \nJenny Nguyen\, Founder – The Sport Bra \nMolly King\, Executive Director – QDoc Film Festival \nStorytelling as Civic Power\nWhy Women’s Sports Stories Matter – and Why Portland Is the Place for Them \n  \nJoin Kimiko Matsuda in conversation with Jenny Nguyen and Molly King as we explore how storytelling—through film\, sport\, and culture—can shape civic identity and redefine representation in athletics. \nTogether\, Jenny\, Molly\, and Kimiko are launching the International Women’s Sports Film Festival (IWSFF) in Portland in May 2026 – an inaugural global festival dedicated to celebrating women’s and nonbinary athletes through films\, documentaries\, and shorts from around the world. The festival shines a light on the women shaping the future of sport\, elevating their achievements\, innovations\, and cultural impact through the power of cinema. \nDrawing from Jenny’s work building community-centered spaces that champion women’s sports\, and Molly’s leadership in independent film and documentary storytelling\, this conversation will examine why women’s sports stories matter now—and why Portland continues to emerge as the Global Epicenter of Women’s Sports. \nWe’ll discuss how storytelling can serve as a civic force: inspiring young athletes\, strengthening community pride\, advancing gender equity\, and connecting local audiences to global movements. This is an early\, candid look at a project in formation—and a broader reflection on how culture\, sport\, and the arts can work together to move cities forward. \nExpect reflections on creative leadership\, the responsibility of representation\, and how film can help reshape who we see—and celebrate—on the world’s sporting stages. \nWe hope you will join us. \nTickets include admission to the event as well as a spread of fresh fruit\, bagels & accompaniments\, coffee\, tea and juice. \n
