SUMMARY:Knob Creek Tasting
DESCRIPTION:MWL MEMBER EXCLUSIVE TASTINGS:\nKNOB CREEK\nMembers and their guests are invited to join us for a casual complimentary tasting of Knob Creek Bourbons. \nCreated in 1992 by Booker Noe as a part of the Small Batch Bourbon Collection\, it was inspired by the Bottled-in-Bond Act to represent the high quality and full flavor of pre-Prohibition-style whiskey. Characterized by the sweetness of its mashbill\, Knob Creek is aged a minimum of 9 years\, distilled at a lower proof\, and bottled at 100 proof to give it its authentic\, full-flavor profile. \nDedicated to creating the definitive bourbon\, they strive to set the standard. Knob Creek upholds the highest principles of bourbon-making. Every stroke set purposely and precisely\, every drop crafted with conviction. Embossed\, stamped\, molded and sealed with defining quality. Bearing the indelible hallmarks of a whiskey worthy of the name. \nMembers and their guests are invited to join us for a casual complimentary tasting of Knob Creek accompanied by light bites in the Members’ Lounge. \nWalk-ins welcome and RSVP appreciated! \nMembers may bring up to three guests per tasting. \nAttendees must be accompanied by a member of Multnomah Whiskey Library.

SUMMARY:Angel's Envy Tasting
DESCRIPTION:MWL MEMBER EXCLUSIVE TASTINGS:\nANGEL’S ENVY\nMembers and their guests are invited to join us for a casual complimentary tasting of Angel’s Envy Whiskies. \nIn the heart of Louisville\, Kentucky\, Angel’s Envy was founded by Bourbon Hall of Fame member and Master Distiller\,\nLincoln Henderson\, and his son Wes Henderson. \nBuilt on a tremendous legacy and a pioneering spirit\, Angel’s Envy innovated the foundations of bourbon and rye through a unique “secondary finishing” technique. By maturing their whiskey in charred oak barrels\, then transferring it to secondary finishing casks\, they crafted a distinct blend of refined complexity with an inviting flavor profile. \nDuring the aging process\, the 5% of spirit lost each year is known as the “Angel’s Share.” After tasting their finished whiskey\, Lincoln joked that they had finally struck a better deal than the angels. And so\, Angel’s Envy was born. \nMembers and their guests are invited to join us for a casual complimentary tasting of Angel’s Envy accompanied by light bites in the Members’ Lounge. \nWalk-ins welcome and RSVP appreciated! \nMembers may bring up to three guests per tasting. \nAttendees must be accompanied by a member of Multnomah Whiskey Library.

SUMMARY:Chicken Cock Whiskey Tasting
DESCRIPTION:MWL MEMBER EXCLUSIVE TASTINGS:\nCHICKEN COCK WHISKEY TASTING\nIn 1856\, James A. Miller built a distillery and started making Chicken Cock Whiskey in Paris\, Kentucky. After his death\, Miller left the business to a trusted distillery clerk\, George G. White\, who made Chicken Cock into the legend it became.  Chicken Cock survived hardships\, fire and prohibition before fading into obscurity in the 1950s.  In 2011\, Chicken Cock’s fortunes changed when spirits entrepreneur Matti Anttila discovered the brand in the Oscar Getz Museum while researching the early days of distillation in the U.S. With Chicken Cock simply being a faded memory of the past at that time\, Anttila decided that the Famous Old Brand was worthy of a rebirth. Until the brand could produce its own distillate\, Anttila sourced some of the best aged bourbon he could find that was worthy of the Chicken Cock label. Through vast historical research and the acquiring of the brand’s relics throughout its history\, this was the beginning of the revival of the award-winning brand’s new lease on life. \nToday\, Chicken Cock holds the same standards that founder James A. Miller set back in 1856\, producing delicious Kentucky Whiskey \nMembers and their guests are invited to join us for a casual complimentary tasting of Chicken Cock accompanied by light bites in the Member’s Lounge. \nWalk-ins welcome and RSVP appreciated! \nMembers may bring up to three guests per tasting. \nAttendees must be accompanied by a member of Multnomah Whiskey Library.

SUMMARY:Elijah Craig Tasting
DESCRIPTION:  \n\nMWL MEMBER EXCLUSIVE TASTINGS\nELIJAH CRAIG\nIn 1789\, Elijah Craig became the first distiller to age his whiskey in new charred oak barrels. Some claim that an accidental fire charred his barrels and changed the whiskey inside. Others say he stored his whiskey in former sugar barrels and was impressed with how charring improved the flavor. \nHowever it happened\, Elijah Craig knew he had discovered something great. He continued to refine the barrel charring process\, imparting smooth\, rich flavor to the spirit that would become known as Bourbon. 250 years later\, Elijah Craig crafts their Bourbon  using the same time-honored methods. \n\nMembers and their guests are invited to join us for a casual complimentary tasting of Elijah Craig accompanied by small bites from the Multnomah Whisk{e}y Library kitchen \nWalk-ins welcome and RSVP appreciated! \nMembers may bring up to three guests per tasting. \nAttendees must be accompanied by a member of Multnomah Whiskey Library.

SUMMARY:Found North Tasting
DESCRIPTION:  \n\nMWL MEMBER EXCLUSIVE TASTINGS\nFOUND NORTH\nFound North is one of the few true blending houses in North America. \nEach batch of Found North whisky is a careful selection of casks blended to bring out the best and most distinctive qualities of the chosen whiskies. Every release is unique\, but each also builds on previous batches and fits into the unfolding saga of Found North. Their Batches (most recently Batch 012)\, for example\, are shaped around Canadian distillate aged for many years in refill oak before being introduced to custom new wood barrels as the last stage of maturation — an uncommon approach that yields the benefits of age without over-extraction. \nAt the center of blending is controlled exploration. Control over maturation\, oak influence\, texture and balance. Exploration of the whisky landscape and the way flavors evolve together over time. They are open-minded but also meticulous about every stage of the process because small decisions compound. \nEvery Found North release is bottled at cask strength with no additives or chill filtration. \n\nMembers and their guests are invited to join us for a casual complimentary tasting of Found North accompanied by small bites from the Multnomah Whisk{e}y Library kitchen \nWalk-ins welcome and RSVP appreciated! \nMembers may bring up to three guests per tasting. \nAttendees must be accompanied by a member of Multnomah Whiskey Library.

SUMMARY:Bagels Not Bourbon: Portland Literary Arts
DESCRIPTION:SEPTEMBER 11TH\, 2026\n9:00AM – 11:00AM\nAndrew Proctor\, Executive Director – Literary Arts\nAmy Donohue\, Design Principal – Bora Architecture & Interiors\nin conversation with Kimiko Matsuda\n  \nWe’re excited to welcome back BAGELS NOT BOURBON – where Portland comes to think out loud. Hosted by The Idea Factory in the Library\, this Friday morning series brings together creative thinkers\, civic leaders\, and cultural changemakers for honest conversations over coffee and bagels. No slides\, no scripts—just bold ideas and the people building what’s next for Portland. Next up in the 2026 line up: \n  \nThe Places That Make Portland\nHow Cultural Anchors\, Gathering Spaces\, and Participation Shape a City\n\nJoin Kimiko Matsuda\, Andrew Proctor\, and Amy Donohue for a look at the role arts and culture play in Portland’s future—and the places that give a city its character. \n  \nFor more than fifteen years\, Andrew has helped grow Literary Arts into one of Portland’s defining cultural anchors—a home for writers\, readers\, and ideas. Amy\, a longtime Literary Arts board leader and Design Principal at Bora Architecture & Interiors\, brings a placemaking perspective to that evolution showing us how the spaces we create can shape the way we gather and belong. \nThat thinking comes together in Literary Arts’ new headquarters and bookstore\, created not simply as a home for the organization\, but as a place for Portland to gather. From intimate events with world-class authors to Portland Book Festival\, we’ll look at what happens when people participate in the cultural life of their city—and how that impact can reach far beyond one place. \nExpect a conversation about how cultural institutions help move a city forward\, why artsand culture are essential civic infrastructure\, and what they contribute to making Portland a city worth choosing. \n  \nWe hope you will join us. \nTickets include admission to the event as well as a spread of fresh fruit\, bagels & accompaniments\, coffee\, tea and juice.
