The bottles cost $249.95 each and must be picked up from the designated Portland liquor store by Wednesday\, February 2nd. \n

A portion of each ticket will be donated to Friends of Trees\, a local non-profit taking action against climate change through natural restoration and planting. \n  \nIn honor of our support for Friends of Trees\, MWL Executive Chef Robert Kelly has designed a four part dining experience inspired by our native tree\, shrub and forest populations. You can expect mushrooms\, hazelnuts\, foraged greens\, and Oregon truffles\, all accompanied by the finest local ingredients. \n  \nWine pairings will feature favorites from the Abbey Creek Vineyard cellars\, with Bertony Faustin and Jessica Mirch in attendance to share more about their all star lineup. Bringing a taste of The Crick with them\, Abbey Creek has also invited celebrity DJ\, OG ONE\, to spin all night long! \n  \nPrivate and communal seating will be available\, requests will be accommodated dependent on availability. SUMMARY:Day of Service with Cascade Forest Conservancy
DESCRIPTION:Join us on June 20th to help prevent the spread of Herb Robert\, a pesky invasive plant growing around the Ape Caves of Mount St. Helens! \n  \nHerb Robert is a non-native species spreading through old-growth forests along the Lewis River\, with high tolerance to shady under stories and the ability to spread via hiking boots. As visitor rates increase in the Ape Caves\, Herb Robert has become a particular concern to CFC and the U.S. Forest Service. It is critical this time of year to clear Herb Robert from the area to prevent spreading to more remote and pristine areas! \n  \nWe will meet at the Ape Caves\, approximately 90 minute drive from Portland\, at 10:30am on Monday\, June 20th. CFC will secure parking passes and provide all required materials. \n  \nHerb-Robert is easy to pull\, but you will need to be able to get up and down into a kneeling position repeatedly. We will be on maintained trails and parking lots for the majority of this trip\, with occasional areas of mud and uneven ground. Volunteers will receive an email one week before the event with additional information. Volunteers will have the chance to explore the caves once they finish at 2:00pm. \n  \nVolunteers will receive a complimentary Old Fashioned during their next visit to the Library! Take an in depth look into the broader world of this maguey spirit\, reaching past traditional flavors and celebrating century old distillation methods. \n  \nThe class will be lead by by MWL Spirit Curator and Education Manager Brett Adams\, who has brought back rare and limited release bottles from his most recent trip to Oaxaca. Adams will cover the history of Mezcal\, distillation methods\, and how the category of spirit has expanded. Guests will be guided through two curated flights to pair along with a 5 part tasting menu\, designed by MWL executive chef\, Robert Kelley. \n  \nDue to the nature of this event\, seating will be communal. Each spirit has been carefully selected by MWL Spirit Curator and Education Manager\, Brett Adams\, who will share a brief history of each distillery and why these whiskies are so unique.  \n  \nHere’s a blurb from Adams on the event: “This event grants a once in a lifetime opportunity to truly experience and understand these irreplaceable whiskies. While we are providing an evening with some of the oldest and rarest spirits in our collection\, we are also aiming to provide context for what makes each one so exceptional. Guests will get to experience the way similar whiskies can change when given extended stays in oak\, and how various styles of whiskey each have a unique response to long maturation. It will be a fun night for those who are curious about what makes rare and old whiskey so special. Just like the whiskies themselves\, this is the sort of event that we can’t replicate very often\, and we’re really excited about being able to offer this experience.”  \n  \nIn line with our theme\, MWL Executive Chef Robert Kelley\, has designed a playful five course tasting menu comparing ‘young’ versus ‘old’ techniques\, such as dry aging versus fresh cuts.  \n  \nSeating will be communal\, as this will be an intimate gathering in the Library’s tasting room. \n  \nWe hope to see you there!
