SUMMARY:Bagels Not Bourbon: Jelani Memory\, Founder – A Kids Co. & Chip Miller\, Associate Creative Director – Portland Center Stage
DESCRIPTION:FEBRUARY 27TH\, 2026\n9:00AM – 11:00AM\nJELANI MEMORY\nCHIP MILLER\n$35 \nWe’re excited to welcome back BAGELS NOT BOURBON – where Portland comes to think out loud. Hosted by The Idea Factory in the Library\, this Friday morning series brings together creative thinkers\, civic leaders\, and cultural changemakers for honest conversations over coffee and bagels. No slides\, no scripts—just bold ideas and the people building what’s next for Portland. Next up in the 2026 line up: \n  \nJelani Memory\, Founder – A Kids Co. \nChip Miller\, Associate Creative Director – Portland Center Stage \nIndependent Doesn’t Mean Small\nScaling Culture Without Losing Soul \n  \nJoin Kimiko Matsuda in conversation with Jelani Memory and Chip Miller as we explore how arts and culture organizations grow reach without sacrificing integrity. \nBetween A Kids Co. and Portland Center Stage\, Jelani and Chip represent two distinct—but deeply aligned—approaches to independent cultural work. One rooted in publishing and education\, the other in performance and design. Both values-driven. Both operating important creative businesses. And both navigating how to expand audience\, influence\, and impact while staying true to their core beliefs. \nTogether\, they’ll reflect on what “scale” really means in mission-driven creative work—what gets harder\, what becomes possible\, and how values are protected as momentum builds. The conversation will explore how trust is earned across generations\, how independent storytelling remains relevant in a crowded landscape\, and why integrity is not a constraint\, but a creative advantage.\nThis isn’t a panel or a presentation. It’s a guided\, candid conversation—one that invites us to rethink how arts and culture function not just as expression\, but as living systems shaping civic identity and belonging. \nExpect insights on creative leadership\, audience-building with intention\, and why independent doesn’t have to mean small to be powerful. \nWe hope you will join us. \nTickets include admission to the event as well as a spread of fresh fruit\, bagels & accompaniments\, coffee\, tea and juice. \n

SUMMARY:Bagels Not Bourbon: Jenny Nguyen\, Founder – The Sports Bra\, Molly King\, Executive Director – QDoc Film Festival
DESCRIPTION:MARCH 13TH\, 2026\n9:00AM – 11:00AM\nJENNY NGUYEN\nMOLLY KING\n$35 \nWe’re excited to welcome back BAGELS NOT BOURBON – where Portland comes to think out loud. Hosted by The Idea Factory in the Library\, this Friday morning series brings together creative thinkers\, civic leaders\, and cultural changemakers for honest conversations over coffee and bagels. No slides\, no scripts—just bold ideas and the people building what’s next for Portland. Next up in the 2026 line up: \n  \nJenny Nguyen\, Founder – The Sport Bra \nMolly King\, Executive Director – QDoc Film Festival \nStorytelling as Civic Power\nWhy Women’s Sports Stories Matter – and Why Portland Is the Place for Them \n  \nJoin Kimiko Matsuda in conversation with Jenny Nguyen and Molly King as we explore how storytelling—through film\, sport\, and culture—can shape civic identity and redefine representation in athletics. \nTogether\, Jenny\, Molly\, and Kimiko are launching the International Women’s Sports Film Festival (IWSFF) in Portland in May 2026 – an inaugural global festival dedicated to celebrating women’s and nonbinary athletes through films\, documentaries\, and shorts from around the world. The festival shines a light on the women shaping the future of sport\, elevating their achievements\, innovations\, and cultural impact through the power of cinema. \nDrawing from Jenny’s work building community-centered spaces that champion women’s sports\, and Molly’s leadership in independent film and documentary storytelling\, this conversation will examine why women’s sports stories matter now—and why Portland continues to emerge as the Global Epicenter of Women’s Sports. \nWe’ll discuss how storytelling can serve as a civic force: inspiring young athletes\, strengthening community pride\, advancing gender equity\, and connecting local audiences to global movements. This is an early\, candid look at a project in formation—and a broader reflection on how culture\, sport\, and the arts can work together to move cities forward. \nExpect reflections on creative leadership\, the responsibility of representation\, and how film can help reshape who we see—and celebrate—on the world’s sporting stages. \nWe hope you will join us. \nTickets include admission to the event as well as a spread of fresh fruit\, bagels & accompaniments\, coffee\, tea and juice. \n

SUMMARY:Bagels and BUBBLES Not Bourbon
DESCRIPTION:APRIL 24TH\, 2026\n9:00AM – 11:00AM\nLOIS CHO\nANDREW DAVIS\nJEANNE FELDKAMP\n$35 \nWe’re excited to welcome back BAGELS NOT BOURBON – where Portland comes to think out loud. Hosted by The Idea Factory in the Library\, this Friday morning series brings together creative thinkers\, civic leaders\, and cultural changemakers for honest conversations over coffee and bagels. No slides\, no scripts—just bold ideas and the people building what’s next for Portland. Next up in the 2026 line up: \n  \nLois Cho\, Co-Founder – CHO Wines \nAndrew Davis\, Founder – Radiant Sparkling Wine Company \nJeanne Feldkamp\, Co-Founder – Corollary Wines / Method Oregon \nMethod\, Momentum & the Making of a Region\nHow Oregon Sparkling Wine is Connecting Rural Craft\, Urban Culture\, and the Future of the Willamette Valley \n  \nJoin Kimiko Matsuda in conversation with Lois Cho\, Andrew Davis\, and Jeanne Feldkamp as we explore how traditional method sparkling wine is helping shape a new chapter for Oregon wine—one rooted in innovation\, place\, and a broader vision for who gets invited into the story. \nAt the center of this conversation is a powerful question: What happens when a rural agricultural product becomes a cultural movement? In the Willamette Valley\, a new generation of sparkling wine leaders is proving that excellence in the vineyard can be\nmatched by fresh thinking in branding\, collaboration\, and audience-building. Traditional method sparkling production in Oregon has grown rapidly\, with Method Oregon describing a fast-growing group of producers making wines “among the best in the world\,” and positioning the category as a distinct statewide collaboration. \nLois Cho brings a new language—and a new audience—to Oregon wine. As CEO of CHO Wines\, she leads content\, events\, and storytelling for a winery known for traditional method sparkling and Pinot Noir\, while also founding AAPI Food & Wine to create spaceswhere more people feel seen and welcomed in wine culture. \nAndrew Davis helped remove one of the biggest barriers to entry in sparkling wine production by launching Radiant Sparkling Wine Company\, a custom-crush operation built specifically to support traditional method sparkling producers in the Willamette Valley.  Radiant’s specialized equipment and technical expertise helped more wineries enter the category and expand Oregon’s sparkling movement. \nJeanne Feldkamp has helped define the category from both the producer and movement-building side. Through Corollary Wines and the collaborative effort Method Oregon\, she is working to establish Oregon as a premier destination for traditional method sparkling wine\, elevating the region alongside more established global sparkling identities. \nTogether\, we’ll talk about how marketing\, craftsmanship\, and regional identity work together; how urban audiences and rural producers can strengthen one another; and why the future of Oregon wine may be as much about storytelling and belonging as it is about terroir. \nExpect reflections on innovation\, access\, cultural relevance\, and the civic opportunity of putting Oregon sparkling on the map. \nWe hope you will join us. \nTickets include admission to the event as well as a spread of fresh fruit\, bagels & accompaniments\, coffee\, tea\, juice and a splash of bubbles to brighten your morning. \n

SUMMARY:Bagels Not Bourbon: Bruce Studer – Re-Ignite The Pearl\, Peter Platt – Andina Restaurant & Re-Ignite The Pearl
DESCRIPTION:JUNE 26TH\, 2026\n9:00AM – 11:00AM\nBRUCE STUDER\nPETER PLATT\n$35 \nWe’re excited to welcome back BAGELS NOT BOURBON – where Portland comes to think out loud. Hosted by The Idea Factory in the Library\, this Friday morning series brings together creative thinkers\, civic leaders\, and cultural changemakers for honest conversations over coffee and bagels. No slides\, no scripts—just bold ideas and the people building what’s next for Portland. Next up in the 2026 line up: \n  \nBruce Studer – Re-Ignite The Pearl \nPeter Platt- Andina Restaurant & Re-Ignite The Pearl \nPlaces People Choose\nHow Gathering\, Culture and Community Shape Great Neighborhoods \n  \nJoin Kimiko Matsuda in conversation with Bruce Studer and Peter Platt as we explore what it takes to create places people want to be part of. \nAs leaders of Re-Ignite The Pearl\, Bruce and Peter are helping shape a new chapter for one of Portland’s most recognizable neighborhoods. Through partnerships\, placemaking\, and community-led experiences\, they are asking a timely question: What makes a neighborhood more than a collection of buildings and businesses? \nDrawing from their work in hospitality\, civic leadership\, and community building\, they will share how gathering spaces\, cultural experiences\, and local partnerships can strengthen connections between residents\, businesses\, and visitors. From the launch of the Pearl District Culinary Farmers Market to broader efforts focused on belonging and discovery\, this conversation explores how communities build momentum— and why the best neighborhoods are shaped by the people who care for them. \nTogether\, we’ll discuss the role of hospitality in civic life\, how small ideas can spark larger movements\, and what Portland can learn from communities that choose to invest in themselves. \nExpect reflections on leadership\, collaboration\, and the power of creating reasons for people to gather. \nWe hope you will join us. \nTickets include admission to the event as well as a spread of fresh fruit\, bagels & accompaniments\, coffee\, tea and juice. \n
