Bagels Not Bourbon is Multnomah Whiskey Library’s newest event series.  A breakfast lecture for the MWL community, bringing some of our most remarkable and inspiring members and community leaders together.  

Join us for our second installment of our morning discussion series on Friday, January 26th from 8:00 – 10:00 a.m. We’ve invited Chris Magana from IMS Capital and Michael D. Levelle from Levelle Law to participate in a discussion moderated by Kimiko Matsuda. 

Kimiko Matsuda is the Director of Culture at Multnomah Whiskey Library, she has spent years in both large corporate settings as well as small independent family owned businesses, she has a background focusing on both operations and brand storytelling. Friday’s discussion will revolve around one question,

Is Empathy Over in 2024?  Work with purpose: navigating careers rooted in community love.

 

About the guests.

Chris Magana – IMS Capital

Chris helps successful families and nonprofit protect and grow wealth.  He is also a part-time educator, angel investor, and champion for community volunteerism.

Chris has more than 14 years of equity research and portfolio management experience. After receiving his B.A. in Business Administration from Concordia University, he completed his MBA in Finance and JD from Willamette University. He is a member of the Oregon State Bar. He has served as an adjunct professor at Concordia University and currently teaches part-time at Washington State University-Vancouver and Willamette University’s Graduate School of Business.

Chris serves on several nonprofit boards and foundations and cares deeply about advocating issues surrounding education, affordable housing, children and the environment. Chris speaks regularly to students, community groups and associations on investment, economics, business ethics and personal finance topics.

Michael Levelle – Levelle Law

Michael Levelle is dedicated to participating in civic organizations that serve under-represented and at-risk communities. Mr. Levelle served on the Oregon State Bar Board of Governors for three years and served as its first African American President in 2017.

Michael’s focus as President was to promote equity, inclusion, and access to justice. He was appointed by the Oregon Supreme Court as a pro tempore judge in the circuit court for the State of Oregon in August 2022. Michael currently serves in the Washington County Circuit Court, Probate Department.

With over 30 years of experience, Michael’s practice is focused on estate planning, trust and estate administration, protective proceedings, and private and non-profit business consultation. Michael defines his role not only as a legal advisor, but as a counselor who help his clients determine solutions based on their own values, needs and objectives.

Bagels and a light continental breakfast will be served along with local Tostado coffee and Steven Smith teas. 

This event is complementary to Members and their guest.  (One guest per Member)  Additional Tickets for current MWL Members guests and non-members are available for $45 per person.
