Breakside Brewery opened in 2010 in Northeast Portland as a humble restaurant and pub brewery, but quickly began to gain recognition for their diversity and innovation. One of Portland’s most respected breweries, they have received a myriad of accolades, including being named Brewery of the Year at the 2017 Oregon Beer Awards and the 2017 Best of Craft Beer Awards.

Head Brewer Ben Edmunds will join us in the intimate setting of our private Tasting Room to provide insight and conversation on several pours from Breakside, including their Mid-Century Modern dark abbey ale and their Old Lord Chubby Cheeks, a rye whiskey barrel-aged spelt ale released in celebration of Breakside’s 7th anniversary.

The Library’s own Colin Howard will also be present to walk us through his whiskey pairings, carefully selected to compliment the unique craft beers. Light bites will be provided by Chef Ben Grossmann, and following the tasting and lively roundtable discussion, we welcome you to stay at the Library and spend time at our fireplace for an additional dram or two.
