With Valentine’s Day falling at the peak of truffle season, the Library’s Chef Ben Grossmann couldn’t be more excited to bring you the perfect romantic dinner for you and your significant other! We will be serving up 7 indulgent courses, highlighting 5 of the finest seasonal truffles from regions in Oregon, France, and Italy, as well as other delicacies such as Pacific mussels, saffron, handmade pasta, and Wagyu New York strip. Each course will be paired with fine spirits and cocktails, including an MWL take on a classic Between the Sheets cocktail, a glass of the 2009 Paolo Bea “Pagliaro” Sagrantino di Montefalco Secco, and to finish the night off, a pour of Delamaine Vesper XO Cognac.

First mentioned in the 20th Century BCE by Neo-Sumarians, truffles have been a sought-after ingredient for ages, even referred to as the “diamond of the gourmet world.”  Their rarity and short growing season have made them the dish of royalty, even thought by Plutarch to be created by lightning strikes. In addition to their rich flavor and scarcity, over the centuries truffles have been valued for another reason: their aphrodisiacal scent. Celebrate the passion in your life with this lavish dinner, surrounded by good friends, great conversation, and amazing flavors.

“Those who wish to live virtuous lives should abstain from truffles.” –European proverb
