Robert Burns, popularly regarded as Scotland’s national poet, is celebrated worldwide for his extensive volumes of poetry and lyrics, which are hugely influential to Scottish culture and heritage. Known for being a pioneer of the romantic movement, he penned such classics as ‘A Man’s a Man for A’ That’ and ‘Auld Lang Syne’. To commemorate Burns’ life and impact on Scottish identity, suppers are held around the globe on January 25th, the day of his birth. Our celebratory Burns Supper will feature five courses of traditional dishes from the British Isles, as interpreted by Chef Ben Grossmann. Each dish will be paired with a cocktail or unique Scotch whisky selected by our Education Manager, Colin Howard. Alastair will be enjoying the dinner with you, offering commentary and teaching us all about the Scottish history and tradition. Join us for a rousing evening of dining, drinking and toasting the great Ploughman Poet of Scotland!
We look forward to seeing you then!
Sincerely,
Your Friends at the Library
